You may be wondering, "what is Mastiha" and why is it added into so many of our products?

This is a  reasonable question to ask, and we're here to answer it.

Mastiha is not yet a household name in most of the world, but we're hoping to change that.

Mastiha is a resin that is excreted by the Mastiha tree.  This tree can be found  all over the Mediterranean, but it is only in Chios, Greece, that the trees produce this resin that we cultivate and use in our products.

Why are we adding a tree resin into our products?

The answer is simple, Mastiha possesses a plethora of health benefits that we hope to share with our customers.  Mastiha's health benefits have not been a secret to those in Chios.  It has been used for centuries as a supplement for both health and beauty.  It has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antimicrobial properties on the skin.  It also helps reduce oiliness, giving skin a shiny healthy appearance while also tightening to reduce the effect of wrinkles.  All of these benefits combine to make your skin more radiant and beautiful while maintaining a youthful appearance.
So, this means that when you're taking a bath after a long day with our Yogahhh! Milk Bath, not only are you relaxing and de-stressing from your day, you're also reaping the benefits of Mastiha.

THE TEAR FROM NATURE/THE MIRACLE SAP FROM A SINGLE GREEK ISAND

After studying and visiting the island of Chios, we have picked Mastiha as the main Cuccio SomatologyTM ingredient for it’s universal medicinal uses.

What is Mastiha?

Mastiha or Mastic is a 100% natural ingredient that is found on one island in the world on the Eastern basis of the Mediterranean Sea: Chios, Greece (on the southern part of the island).

Mastic is a natural miracle resin or tear like substance obtained from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus) that gladdens, comforts and cures from the trunk and branches from the tree. The tree is an evergreen that grows approximately 20 feet high.
The tree takes 5-6 years before it starts giving off it’s resin. The tree is fully grown after 40-50 years and lives to about 100 years old.

Mastiha dates back 6 million years with fossil proof evidence. Since the 5th Century B.C. in

ancient Greece, Chios Mastic/Mastiha has been referred by Herodotus and Hippocrates for it’s medicinal uses. Mastiha comes in a gum, powder, liquid and water form.

Being that Mastiha is rare and only grown in one part of the island, Mastiha is on the more expensive side at a minimum of $1100 per gram.
